one of the great struggles in life is to be Authentic. There are so many cultural and family factors that try to direct us in being something else; it is hard to speak with that ‘Original Voice’.
Trust in Yourself:
1. remember those childhood dreams and wishes
2. follow what gets you excited and passionate
3. when you’re bored, you’re not being authentic (a call to do something else)
4. look in the mirror, are you smiling? if not, find that SMILE!
5. recall your nightly dreams; that is the Original Voice speaking. In code
—
YOU CAN be authentic, WE CAN be true
it will be a better world when we do so!!!

I loved this post. If it hadn’t been for taking a moment to listen to that original, internal voice, I would have given up when Peripheral Neurpathy hit and I could no longer play my beautiful “Yellow Cello.” I couldn’t press the strings with my left hand, and could only bow for about 30 seconds.
But then there it was! A tiny voice of reason said – paraphrase
– that I should dust off the cello, resell it to a loving intermediate to hi-level student to continue their learning journey. Buy a piano with the proceeds since I can play aleady
My luthier sold it to a great student at Duke, and I used the proceeds to help purchase the grand piano I’ve always wanted.
Results? I got back use of my left hand from a 90% functional loss, and got back the right hand from a 75% loss.

What a lovely reminder for starting the week. When I became ill with Lupus a few years ago, I had to rearrange my life and was able to get back to some basics that I had given up over the years, like reading mystery novels, taking picture in the gardens and my passion, stained glass. I had to give up working full time and at first felt lost, but now have gained back art and meaning to my life. Now I have time reflect and listen to my original voice. It’s still a bit annoying that I had took Lupus to make me learn to slow down but it is a lesson that I *needed* to learn, but sometimes it takes a figurative knock in the head to catch my attention. :>

I loved this very inspirational posting!!! You are exactly right that you are not being true to yourself if you are not following what you are passionate about.

Bullet # 4 is so good. We don’t smile enough in our lives. I should really put up a mirror all around my work space.
