as we move into these times of accelerating change (the leadup to 2012) I am struggling with the issue of promoting / enforcing change. I wonder at this question: primarily for myself, and then secondarily, to share my own experiences; to ease the path for others. I feel very much a pioneer in this journey; I have searched far and wide amongst the information sources that I know of (books and books, blogs, websites, etc) and have only encountered a handful of individuals really pushing the edge; or at least those that are pushing the edge publicly.
There are a few folk that I can name and call out; which will not be over-exposure for them as they are quite in the public eye; at least the Internet Eye. Two prominent individuals at the forefront are – Robert Scoble (prominent tech blogger, who has blazed his own trail; working first for Microsoft as a PR agent, them for various startups to push their name into the public sphere) and Steve Pavlina (a Personal Development Blogger whose site rocketed to internet stardom 4-5 years ago, and has been the envy but also the beacon for so many in that time. He lives off his blog + book these days). These are 2 standout individuals in the web space; pushing the boundaries of what was previously considered possible.
and one hallmark / trait of these trailblazers is their constant morphing; they will try on one skin, have success with that, then discard it weeks or months later. They are so very hard to pin down on what they stand for. Unlike others, who hit on a successful formula, and just re-iterate that many times, these guys get bored ever so quickly, and keep trying and failing. Their failures are public and laughed at, their successes are then copied by the masses. They are true innovators in the idea space.
so yes, with so many millions of websites out there, how many truly groundbreaking ones are there? a handful? most are little entertainment boxes; recycling this or that; or offering up some personal opinion which has limited scope; the truly groundbreaking, paradigm smashing ideas – who is brave or foresightful enough to try?
so ideas are what I feed on.
twitter has been so engaging the past six months (first half of ‘09) but I feel I have reached a roadblock there. Conversations started and tried; possbilities manifested and explored. Nothing new and exciting seems to be there. And it could possibly act as a downward funneling device; as the hive mind tkaes over – and topics of discussion revolve around certain world events (Iran Election for eg) or certain celebrity deaths (Michael Jackson for one). Twitter could become a force for homogenisation rather than diversification over time. And that is not good news!
So Facebook has arrived and matured, and totally passed me by. Twitter is the next new wave, but I feel it has crested already. I am looking for new pastures, new fields to explore; another new media to immerse myself into. I feel the questing, the emptiness. There must be newer ways to connect people, newer ways to share, propagate, and comment on the coming Escaton. The Change. The Great Shift.
Ideas are what I feed on. And I am very Hungry right now.
blessings and peace,

I’m wondering if the problem may be one simply of each type Twitter, FB, MySpace etc just becoming too popular, of getting weighed down by the unimaginative masses? After all, surely what makes interesting content is interesting people with interesting things to say rather than the medium itself. The flipside of that is that uninteresting content can certainly bog down a good medium, such as what is happening with Twitter. I actually think it would help if they got rid of trending topics – it encourages spam – people posting links with trending topics tags and just seeking attention. And I will admit that I’ve posted links (albeit relevant ones) just to get a few extra clicks from the trending tags. Which kind of reenforces my point.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure: As far as personal opinions with little scope–it might be just what one needs to read to accelerate their shift…

Dear GGW,
I am confused…why are you looking to others for inspiration? You are the “information source”! You are full of fresh, juicy ideas! OK, sometimes it seems harder to access them — but they are inside. I certainly can relate. I still encourage you to focus your attention inside of yourself to clarify and access those new ways of embodying the change. You are a pioneer! Thank you so much for all you do and all you share! Most of all, thank you for being YOU!

…i also feed of this food you call “ideas”,and im also hungry….i guess we shouldnt be pigging out on ideas…nothing left…found any simulated maps of world after the shift, and maps of faultlines,or safest places…i here africa is safest, due to lack of faultlines…Also fear all the idea reading, when it comes time you’ll be full of ideas, but wont pursue them…try a break, give people time to catch up…lol..

Sounds symptomatic of being disconnected from source energy . You are made of the same stuff the universe is made of . So , rather than looking on the outside for inspiration that may be based on misguided or faulty information, try turning in .You only need to look inside , to find the source of everything and relax into it .For me, keeping the mind-stuff playful at this point is what allows me to birth new ideas. Your possibilities are infinite, and creative inspiration will always flow , and ideas will always spring forth when the mind is free. You are brilliant ,and have worked diligently to bring yourself to this place of new choice . Just smile and enjoy the ride. Play , play, play for a while. If “it” doesn’t put a smile on your face , then don’t do … “it” . When your happiness is your priority , all else will follow . I’m an ENFP too and I also always tell others to “PLAY” not to take things too seriously and just enjoy the ride. Life is so much fun and when you enjoy all it has to offer you come out happier and more loving. My gift has been the creation of a website that uses songs and music as prescriptions rather than drugs. Music therapy
I adore music and think that it can heal others. Just pop in a favorite tune and take your mind somewhere beautiful.
Love,
Nihal
